Description
Where light wind racing is decided.
Light wind raceboard racing is rarely about raw power. It's about efficiency. Timing. And making the most of conditions where every gust, every pump, and every tactical choice matters.
On lakes and inland venues, races are often won long before the wind truly fills in.
That's exactly where the Raceboardblade ULW operates.
Designed for Ultra-Light Wind Racing
The Raceboardblade ULW is purpose-built for the conditions where most Raceboard events take place: marginal winds, flat water, and long tactical legs. Its 5-batten, 3-cam setup focuses on early drive, efficient pumping, and a stable working profile that stays active even when the wind is very light.
The goal isn't to overpower the board. It's to keep the sail breathing, responsive, and efficient — so you stay moving while others slow down.
Because in light wind racing, momentum is everything.
Stability That Works With You
Profile stability plays a central role in how the ULW performs across an entire race. The sail maintains a consistent, predictable shape upwind, while releasing cleanly on downwind legs to reduce drag and fatigue.
That balance allows you to focus on tactics, line choice, and timing rather than constantly managing the rig.
When the sail stays settled, your decisions become clearer — and your racing sharper.
Tuned for Pumping Efficiency
Low and ultra-low wind performance relies heavily on pumping response. The Raceboardblade ULW supports this with a head batten positioned deeper into the sail body and set at a steeper angle, subtly firming the twist while keeping the leech active.
Combined with a longer luff and a carefully defined luff curve, the sail generates forward drive efficiently and recovers its shape quickly after each pump — helping you accelerate through lulls and maintain speed between gusts.
TekCam 3: Lighter, Simpler, More Responsive
The Raceboardblade ULW uses the TekCam 3 camber system, reducing overall cam weight by 35% compared to previous generations. In light wind racing, this weight saving translates directly into a sail that feels more alive during pumping and easier to manage through long races.
An integrated strap keeps each cam securely positioned on the mast, even when the sail is trimmed very soft. This ensures reliable rotation and consistent profile behavior — critical when racers deliberately under-trim to extract every last bit of power in ultra-light conditions.
The result is a refined, predictable feel that supports efficiency rather than fighting it.
Balanced Across Sizes and Sailors
Available in 7.5, 8.5, and 9.5, the Raceboardblade ULW range is scaled to accommodate different sailor physiques and wind strengths without changing the sail's core behavior.
An enlarged main window improves visibility on crowded start lines, while X-Ply panels replace traditional monofilm to increase durability and long-term reliability without affecting overall weight — an important consideration for sailors who train and race extensively in light conditions.
Exposed Tack for Tactical Flexibility
The Raceboardblade ULW features an exposed tack, with the mast pad intentionally removed. This reduces weight at the base of the sail and allows the use of external downhaul systems designed for fine, on-the-water adjustment.
As conditions shift during a race, this setup gives racers greater tactical flexibility, making it easier to fine-tune the sail's feel and response directly on the course without interrupting rhythm or flow.
Defined by Trim Sensitivity
Like all Raceboardblade designs, the ULW is defined by exceptional trim sensitivity within its intended wind range. Small changes in downhaul or outhaul immediately translate into noticeable differences in power delivery, pumping response, and overall balance.
That sensitivity gives you the tools to adapt — leg by leg, shift by shift — when conditions are at their most demanding.
The Advantage in Light Wind Racing
The Raceboardblade ULW isn't about chasing extremes.
It's about consistency, efficiency, and control when the wind is light and the margins are small.
