Raceboardblade 7.5 OD White
Description
Accessible raceboard performance, built to race.
Raceboard racing has always been about efficiency, timing, and decisions — not just equipment extremes. The Raceboardblade OD is designed for that reality, delivering competitive raceboard performance in a simpler, more accessible format.
Developed from the proven Raceboardblade ULW platform, the Raceboardblade OD offers light to medium wind performance that works for both developing racers and experienced sailors looking for a cost-effective, easy-to-manage race sail that still performs where it counts: on the course.
Performance Rooted in ULW DNA
The Raceboardblade OD is based directly on the successful ULW design, retaining the same core profile philosophy that has delivered results at club, national, and international levels.
Optimized shaping and leech release provide efficient upwind angles and clean downwind runs, allowing the sail to stay active and responsive in lighter and medium winds. The focus is on maintaining momentum, staying connected through pressure changes, and supporting tactical sailing rather than chasing peak power.
Available in 6.5, 7.5, and 8.5, the range covers the most commonly used raceboard sizes while keeping behavior consistent across the lineup.
Lightweight Frame, Responsive Feel
The Raceboardblade OD uses a 5-batten, 3-cam configuration with fiberglass rod and tube battens to create a light, efficient structure that responds instantly to pumping and trim changes.
This lighter frame keeps the sail easy to handle in marginal conditions, where quick acceleration and recovery after each pump make the difference between staying in phase or falling behind. Rotation remains smooth and predictable, even when sailed with softer trim.
The result is a sail that feels lively and efficient rather than demanding — especially important in long races and tactical conditions.
Simplified Construction, Race-Ready Function
To balance performance, durability, and cost, the Raceboardblade OD uses a mixed panel layout.
The main window and upper body incorporate monofilm panels to reduce weight and maintain a crisp, responsive feel, while the rest of the sail follows proven Loftsails construction principles. This combination keeps the sail light and reactive without sacrificing reliability for regular racing use.
The mast pocket follows the original Blade design, using a three-layer construction tensioned directly by the downhaul. Dacron is used in the upper pocket, with SU250 in the lower section, creating a leading edge that stays firm, rotates cleanly, and remains easy to manage throughout the race.
This design helps the sail settle quickly after maneuvers and keeps handling predictable even when trimmed soft.
Trim Sensitivity That Teaches You To Race
Like all Raceboardblade designs, the OD is defined by its trim sensitivity.
Small adjustments in downhaul and outhaul produce clear, usable changes in power delivery, leech behavior, and overall balance. This makes the sail particularly valuable for developing racers, as it rewards good trimming habits and helps sailors understand how setup choices affect performance on the water.
At the same time, experienced racers will appreciate the sail's ability to be fine-tuned precisely as conditions evolve during a race.
One Design By Philosophy
The "OD" in Raceboardblade OD reflects its intent: to provide a competitive, fair, and accessible raceboard sail platform.
While not currently part of a formal One Design class, the sail is built around the principles that make One Design racing work — consistent performance, manageable complexity, and equipment that rewards sailing skill over constant hardware changes.
If the line proves successful, it leaves the door open for future One Design development. For now, it delivers exactly what raceboard sailors need: a reliable, competitive sail that keeps the focus where it belongs — on racing.
