Raceboardblade 7.5 OD White
Description
The Raceboardblade OD is a light to medium wind raceboard sail built on proven ULW DNA — delivering competitive performance in a simpler, more accessible format. Designed for newcomers to raceboard racing and experienced sailors who want a reliable, easy-to-manage sail that stays focused where it counts: on the course.
Performance Rooted in ULW DNA
The OD retains the core profile philosophy of the ULW platform — optimised shaping and leech release for efficient upwind angles and clean downwind runs.
Available in 6.5, 7.5, and 8.5, the OD range is sized for junior, lighter, and newcomers to raceboard racing — complementing the 9.5 m² ULW V8 and AR at the top of the Raceboardblade lineup.
Lightweight Frame, Responsive Feel
A 5-batten, 3-cam configuration with fiberglass rod and tube battens creates a light, efficient structure that responds instantly to pumping and trim changes. This lighter frame keeps the sail easy to handle in marginal conditions, where quick acceleration and recovery after each pump make the difference between staying in phase or falling behind.
Rotation remains smooth and predictable, even when sailed with softer trim. The result is a sail that feels lively and efficient rather than demanding.
Simplified Construction, Race-Ready Function
To balance performance, durability, and cost, the Raceboardblade OD uses a mixed panel layout. Monofilm panels in the main window and upper body reduce weight and maintain a crisp, responsive feel, while the rest of the sail follows proven Loftsails construction principles — keeping the sail light and reactive without sacrificing reliability for regular racing use.
The mast pocket uses a three-layer construction tensioned directly by the downhaul, with Dacron in the upper section and SU250 in the lower. The result is a leading edge that stays firm, rotates cleanly, and remains easy to manage throughout the race — settling quickly after maneuvers and staying predictable even when trimmed soft.
Trim Sensitivity That Rewards Good Racing
Like all Raceboardblade designs, the OD is defined by its trim reactivity. Small adjustments in downhaul and outhaul produce clear, usable differences in power delivery, leech behaviour, and overall balance — rewarding good trimming habits and helping sailors understand how setup choices translate to performance on the water.
Experienced racers will find the same sensitivity allows precise fine-tuning as conditions evolve through a race.
The Raceboardblade OD is a sail that teaches and performs in equal measure.
