The Loft | Double World Champion (2007) Valerie Ghibaudo interview

June 6 08

Q- Valerie, you are known as an excellent slalom race starter... how did you develop your starting technique?
VG- I have top starts because of my race experience. The high stress I feel before the start changes to a certain concentration and power;  I only focus on the starting bouy and to arrive first at the first mark.

Q- What is your trainning calendar? How many time do you sail?
VG- I enjoy all the afternoon free. I use this time to do physical training on my VTT and trim my equipment on the water. During my training I am not at 100% of my capacity, this happens only during the races, when I generate adrenaline that makes me fly!

Q- Who will be your principal challenger this year. Are there new racers who may prove dangerous for you?
VG- This year there are new girls I don t know who are comming from the RSX class, but I am confident, not afraid! I expect to fight again this year with my eternal rival Karin Jaggi.

Q- Can you tell me your goals for 2008?
VG
- I want to win the PWA World Cup circuit in slalom (4 races: Korea, Costa Brava, Fuerteventura and Turkey), as well to win the Worldcup Speed title again this year.
I stopped with long distance racing in France because I think that this ranking is not especially significant, however I will race the final French championship event in Carnac.
