Our base was Sanary, where we found a very nice small hotel with one of the best restaurants of the area.
Next morning the wind turned a bit more west, so we decided to go again to Carro, which was the best choice! 30 knots average with a nice wave of max 2.5 meters!!! It was crowded but enjoyable, with Lip wave 4.3 and my medium board of about 85 liters a 242x56cm...
Very nice conditions... the whole day was beautiful, nice reef waves and the Lips working great in the right conditions.
Back in Sanary for the night, having one of the greatest dinners in our lives!... strange to say- for Italian food in France- but it was so...!
Next morning we espected the strongest wind of the 3 days- and so it was! Carro with no one out... only we 4 friends + the wife of Robi & Marusca (a great photographer ofcourse!!!) and....35 to 50 knots of wind!!!!!!!!!! Some sets with 2,5 meters wave but periods with very small waves because of the strong wind.
Josef, Amedeo, Robi and I rigged sails from 3.5 to 4.3 and went for it! It was really hard-moments totally overpowered, and with the water cooking with spray everywhere!… difficult moments as well to waterstart, but we love extreme conditions, so it was our bread with a "baguette" taste!
After 2 hours having fun we decided to move to a more relaxed condition, we went to Brutal beach in Sanary. The conditions were not like the name; we found very nice waves up to 3 meters with 25 knots average, we took our 4.7 Lip Waves and the big 95 liter waveboards... nice high loops and very nice frontside surfing! Then the wind dropped as if to say: “hey guys!!! You have a long trip home!”
Thank you South of France for such 3 superlative days!!!
