Q- How long have you been windsurfing? Where did you begin? What is your age, height & weight?
A- I first sailed when I was 9 years old in a small lake named Magan Michael in the north of Israel, but I did it only once in a while. When I was 17 I went to Maui-. there I fell in love with windsurfing and sailed a lot!

Q- Where is your favorite place to windsurf? Why? Where is your "local spot"?
A- EL ARENAL(Pozo Izquierdo). It is amazing for jumping!
My local spot is Dolfinariom in Tel Aviv.

Q- Are you a competitor? Where? When? Which events? Your best results?
A- Not really,I'm more of a soul surfer, however when I am on the water I want to be the best! In the last few years I participated in some contests in the Canarian Islands: the Canarian Cup (CWR) and the PWA, mostly in Pozo where I have lived for the last 3 years.

Q- Describe a normal day in the life of Ron Barel.
A- Waking up at 9:00am, doing some stretching, eating breakfast, checking the conditions. If its windy I will do a morning session. Then I will go to work for a few hours (repairing boards). In the evening I will sail again depending on the conditions and my workload.

Q- Who are the windsurfers that you admire? What is your favorite windsurfing move?
A- Jonas Ceballos, EL FITO (Julio Franco). My favorite move is the monster back loop.

Q- What is it about windsurfing that inspires you to keep going? Please describe a perfect windsurfing day.
A- I was born into it, grew up with this amazing sport and feel part of it. I always have the desire to push this sport as far as I can. For me the perfect windsurfing day lines up like this, mast high waves, 40 knots of wind and the 3.5 LipWave in my hands. I love flying high and hitting thick lips mmmm sweet !!! The best days are when I don’t think about anything. I am just having fun in the water and enjoying the natural environment.
