These two new Blade sizes have been developed over the past 1.5 years working with Andy Abendroth, Michael Naumann, Pascal Somers and Fernando Martinez.
There two new sizes include 8 battens plus our Sensitip, 4 cams, 4mil xply upper body, 125mono window area, 5mil xply foot, 4mil xply mast pocket and 5mil xply mast panel and 5mil Kevlar-xply foot panel.
Two all-carbon hi-tech “Super tubes” are built into battens 5 & 6 (from the top). All battens built with tubes except the Sensitip batten.
We have been intensively testing Blade 11.0 and 9.5 protos other brands- on identical formula boards with identical Hurricane 70cm Formula fins. Test results proved the need to produce the designs in series.
The Blade 11.0 and 9.5 share the mast pocket construction details from the smaller Blade sizes… the mast pocket extends under the webbings that mount the tack roller. This creates in even tension between the mast panel and mast pocket. The result is super-clean mast pockets and smooth cam rotation- even under maximized downhaul tension! This is a feature that sets our Blade Formula sizes apart from all other Formula designs.
Pascal, Michael and Andy look forward in full confidence to this season’s Formula competitions.
