	Interview with Ilya Escario How long have you been windsurfing? I've been windsurfing for 17 years now. Where were you born? Where do you live now? Born in Mallorca, Spain and currently living in Maui trying to make a living as an architect. Why are you on Maui? I quit my job in a architecture office and came to Maui one year ago because of the wind and waves. Here you can work in the morning and sail in the afternoon, its windy almost every day! What are your favorite windsurfing conditions? My favorite conditions is logo to mast high waves and side shore wind for the 4,7. Which is your favorite windsurfing move? Why? Its hard to have a favorite move, there are so many and so different... A nice carve can be really nice, or an aerial landing in the flats, or a backloop or pushloop, I can't say a favorite move, I like them all! What do you look for in performance wave sails? What I look for in a wave sail is power, acceleration, response and a feeling of stiffness, I don't want a soft sail that doesn’t even feel when the gust hits you. Photos: Susana Ramis
