- How old are you?
Ruben 23
- Where & when did you start windsurfing?
I learned to windsurf at Sorobon beach Bonaire when I was about 13 years old.
- Who influenced your windsurfing style when you started?
Back than it was more guys like Micha Buzianis, Bjorn Dunkerbeck and Jason Polakow.
- Who influences your style now?
Now its little guys like Bjorn Saragoza and Kiri Thode.
- Tell us about the latest freestyle move... what is it named and what is happening?
Funnel into Punch… you sail swich stance than you make a ducktack and slowly carve down wind while back-winded, and then you throw yourself into a punch (flat water goiter).
- Which is your favorite freestyle move? Why?
Lately it is the clew-first swich-stance punieta (spock 540) because I like the feeling of spinning around without taking your hands off the the boom. You can even spin faster and go for a double clewfirst swich-stance punieta.
- Why did you move from slalom to freestyle?
Freestyle was and still is very cool, it was more fun to sail together with my friends and push eachother for the new moves.

- Where do you expect to be at the end of the year regarding the overall freestyle results?
I expect to be on top 10 position on the European Tour, and somewhere up the 20s on the World Rankings.
- You have just visited Tarifa and The Loft for 10 days... what are your impressions of Tarifa?
Tarifa a place that I wanted to visit for a long time... really sweet atmosphere, warmer than most parts of Europe great windsurfing conditions and… what else do you want? There is sun, water and wind!
- What can you say about Loftsails performance?
The Loft sails… super great working sails, the power in the sails is very stable and they have a smooth powerful feeling… just the right feeling to enter your move. They also feel light and are strong. I am very happy with the sails!
