Evolution ... The 2005 Lip and O2 sail ranges are firmly based on our 2004 designs and many significant improvements have been realized. The Loft 2005s enjoy significant weight reduction as well as numerous quality improvements. The substantial 05 weight reduction is a result of surgical attention being paid to many items. Monty always gives maximum attention to sail integrity and longevity, and for 2005 the average sail weight has dropped by as much as a half kilo! This improvement is easy to recognize on the water... you feel it! All 2005 Loftsails are constructed with reduced monofilm content; more application of Xply/laminate materials. Lip Wave- 100% laminate construction Lip Freewave- 75% laminate construction O2 Freeride- 65% laminate construction O2 Freerace- 52% laminate construction Both the Lip and the O2 enjoy refinement of the SensiTip head batten system. The SensiTip has been lowered into the sail slightly and the SensiTip and head battens are extended slightly longer which produces an improved head planform with slightly softer twist at the tip. The upper-most horizontal seam (under the head batten) has also been re-designed, making the upper leech slightly firmer. The result: Lip and O2 proven light wind performance has been slightly augmented for 2005. All 2005 Loftsails remain, like their predecessors, especially trim reactive. For 2005 all Loftsails include our simple and effective adjustable outhaul system which simply and effectively expands wind range. The Loft 2005 ...it's a feeling! |
