The design

Designed by Monty Spindler in Tarifa, the Lip Wave is a rather collected sail that is characterized by the quality of the materials and reinforcements employed. Indeed, one notes only 40% of monofilm on the body of the sail, the remainder is in X-Ply on the foot, the leech and at the head of the sail. Refined on the level of the design, it easily presents a superb mast protection and astute for rigging. It is one of the best reinforced sails of this group.

The test team point of view

Quite powerful, the Lip Wave offers leech twist that is marked and harmonious down to the boom. Fast to plane, the Lip Wave offers high cruising speed and dampens choppy conditions: it deadens imbalances and guarantees optimal comfort. It is a sail that always offers power in navigation, the leech releases and the body powers well in onshore conditions. Very stable in profile, a little heavier than the Neil Pryde Search, the Lip is very fast and is neutral & easy surfing in waves, offering robust and precise handling. One appreciates the elasticity feeling and the nervousness that emerges… so as to always sail at high speed.

Conclusions

Very versatile, the Lip Wave is a "Turbo Wave", a fast wave sail with particularly high stability, ideal in onshore conditions for its smooth power and leech release. Also a good sail for side shore conditions due to his neutral profile in the surf.
