Competitive Formula racing requires specialized designs that are maximized in performance upwind off the starting line, which also power downwind with the ability to stay planning while maintaining a very deep offwind angle.

The O2+ is specialized for Formula racing, the boom length is long relative to size, which together with a flat entry make the upwind angle acute (outpoint your competitors!).

The O2+ body is designed with precise shaping that becomes powerfully full with released outhaul (downwind) and efficiently (upwind) flat with tensioned outhaul.

Consquently, trim directly determines the performance characteristics and gives the racer a truly large range of power and handling configurations.

We have shaped the O2+ with horizontal curves under the battens.

These set a full powerful shape low and flatten progressively up the sail body.

The head, with the Sensitip head batten system is responsive; twisting to de-power when needed yet taut enough to keep the rig driving upwind with a tight angle of attack.

These sizes reflect the large range character of the new O2+.

Construction Details
Racing in strong winds with large sail sizes, characteristic of the competitive Formula scene, require designs with exceptional stability. Stability in the upper wind range is the O2+`s strength.

Together with the progressively shaped body, eight battens (seven of which with carbon tubes) effectively stabilize, producing an exceptionally easy feel at the upper end. Five micro battens silence the O2+`s exhaust.

Three roller-cams sharpen the O2+ entry for pointing ability upwind, and also push in low end power . The body is light, seamless and cut from 125 monofilm.

The mast panel is 5mil Xgrid. The mast pocket is cut from 4oz Dacron above the boom; light and stable. Durable 5oz mast pocket material is applied to the mast poocket from the upper camdown. Only the bottom three battens have cams on all O2+ sizes.

The O2+ has been through an extensive R&D process, being prototyped, tested, and raced all over Europe over the past 4 years. Fernando Martinez won the Spanish Formula Cup for 2002 racing with the O2+.
